After the client is fully comfortable and ready to begin, the practicing will hold their hand above some of the specific areas of their body, like the center of their head, limbs, and even the torso. The healing process of each position lasts somewhere around 2 to 8 minutes.
In the case of a significant physical injury, that requires fast healing, the therapist will hold their palm above the injured area also.
During this time, the universal energy or Reiki transfers from the practitioner's palm to the client's body. Many people who have experienced Reiki sessions later explained that they feel a sense of warmth and touch right where the practitioner held their palm. This session will continue until the energy transfer is fully completed and the Reiki chain is broken.
